SECRETARY

Hello! My name is Danielle Parker, and I have been a member of EPIC since February 2013. I am nineteen years old, and about start a police training program at Centre High School.

Why do you want to serve on the EPIC Executive Committee?

I would like to serve on the EPIC Executive Committee because I love EPIC. I love being a Potterwatch member, and all of the projects we've done in the past to help our community. Therefore, because I love being a Pottetwatch member as much as I do, applying for exec feels like a natural progression for me.

What skills or qualities do you bring to the EPIC Executive Committee?

Some skills that I believe would be of use to the EPIC exec would be my knowledge of software. Also my people skills.

Describe any previous experience taking meeting minutes or keeping documents and emails organized that would benefit you in the role of Secretary.

In the past, I have transcribed notes in short hand from audio/video files, to later be typed up properly. This has mostly been for use in school related essays, but has also been for world building, writing uses as well. As for emails, in preparation for Leakycon 2014, I kept a folder solely dedicated to the trip. Email confirmations dedicated purely to my trip planning (such as flight receipts, travel insurance, etc) went into the folder. It was this that caused me to keep track of what had and hadn't been done in the months leading up to Leaky.

What new ideas, projects, campaigns or policies would you like to see the EPIC Executive Committee implement in the coming year?

I would like to see EPIC eventually liaison with the brand new Calgary chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance, and possibly see if we could do a joint project between the two of us. It could help a new chapter find it's footing, while benefitting all of Alberta.

If you could change one thing concerning the operation of EPIC over the past year, what would it be?

If I could fix one thing about EPIC's operations, it would be the slightly irregular meeting places and dates. If it were to be possible to set one date for each meeting (like the second Tuesday of each month) and look at ways to book places out for at least six months of meetings at a time, it would improve the number of members showing up to each meeting.
